"Unless you can actually make a change, don't go there and don't join them."
- Temidayo Olaleye
Many of us are quick to join the bandwagon because we want to belong or are afraid of being left alone. People are acting, talking and dressing silly and we are always quick to hop on the trends, calling it cruise.
Is it truly cruise or we don't have an identity and also afraid to use our senses?
Is it bad to be trendy? No. I want to be globally recognized so I know that.
Is it bad to have fun? No. Life needs some fun to make it bearable.
Is it bad to admire and want to be like others? No. I want to be next superstar.
The thing is, in all we do, there must be a reason. We shouldn't just act, dress, talk and think because someone does it. We should have our reasons for doing stuff and they must make logical sense to us. We should build an habit of thinking extensively and progressively.
Ask yourself this:
1. Why do I have these beliefs? Am I truly convinced?
2. Why do I act this way?
3. Is this really who I want to be? Will I be ashamed of myself later?
4. What do I want to achieve with this?
5. Am I at peace with this or just want societal validation?
We grow every day. It's okay to not know everything all at once but it's not okay to mar your life for choices that are not really yours. Walk your path and stop being a sheep.
You are not meant to be one of many. You are meant to be you.
